    Study Centre

Our Study Centre (SEN) offers a supportive environment for pupils with special educational needs. It provides customised programmes for each pupil on the basis of individual need and the extent to which a child can cope in mainstream classes.

Because our class sizes are already small and our teacher-pupil ratios high, individual learning happens quite naturally across the curriculum and the business of tailoring lessons to meet individual needs takes place in most lessons most of the time, however, there are situations when a pupil requires additional back-up and focused support.

The Study Centre supplements mainstream lessons by offering a boost to the core skills of Literacy and Numeracy, with the aim of helping each pupil to access the rest of the curriculum. Classes take place in one to one sessions or small groups, and can also involve the facilitation of outside agencies such as speech and language therapists. Staff can help families with diagnosis, through contacts with educational psychologists.

We make sure there is a constant dialogue with parents, teachers, other students and the whole school community to ensure that the approach to learning remains inclusive and positive.
