Parent Councillor Vacancy

There is a vacancy for a Parent Academy Councillor on the Polam Hall School Academy Council.

Academy Councillors play a very important role in helping the school thrive and improve. Their core responsibilities include:

  • Ensuing clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding the Principal to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils and the performance management of the staff;
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

No formal qualifications or experience are required to be an Academy Councillor, just an interest in and commitment to the education of children, a willingness to listen and learn.  However, it is important that Councillors bring a balance of skills and experience to the Council so it can fulfil its responsibilities. We would welcome in particular nominations from parents with skills and experience in any of the following areas:

  • Teaching
  • Strategic IT
  • General Management
  • Finance

If you are interested in becoming an Academy Councillor, you should send an email to Vicki Barber, Clerk to the Academy Council at: .  All nomination forms must emailed to Vicki Barber, Clerk to the Academy Council or be handed in to Angela Walker, PA to the Principal by no later than 17:00 on Friday, 25 January 2019.

 Your nomination must be supported by one other parent / carer with a child at the school. In the event that more than one parent / carer is nominated, an election from amongst all parents / carers will be held shortly after the Easter holidays.
