    Lottie Kay

Lottie Kay – Editorial Assistant, The Daily Mail

    When were you at Polam?

    1998 – 2005

What did you study at Polam?

    English Literature, English Language, Drama

    What are you doing today?

Editorial Assistant at The Daily Mail’s new website called Today I’m Wearing. After an under-grad in English Lit, and then a post-grad in Lifestyle and Fashion Journalism at The London College of Fashion, I went on to be an intern at Glamour magazine, and was then Features Assistant at Prima magazine, before being made Editorial Assistant at The Mail. It involves a wide variety of activities. Mainly, writing daily fashion and trend reports for the website, interviewing celebrities and people of interest, sourcing images, hunting down new stories and trends, more writing, running social media sites, calling in clothes to be styled for shoots and assisting on shoots.

How did Polam help you to get there?

Polam Hall is idiosyncratic, borderline eccentric. However, it is this very uniqueness that imprints itself on you and helps you develop as an individual.

What’s your best memory of Polam?

Hanging out in Plantation, doing the inter-house plays, Mr Bell’s lunches, blocking Mr Glover’s car in with bricks on our last day, getting the giggles in assembly, and making life-long friends who I still see all the time.

    Who was you favourite teacher?

I had many favourites, for different reasons. Mrs Dobson – she gets it. Mrs Turvey – made me genuinely passionate about Literature. Dr Rymer – great teacher. Mrs Pollard – sense of humour about my constant lateness and disorganisation. And sense of humour in general. Ms Hyslop – involved in some pretty hilarious drama trips. Miss Consadine (now left) – beyond hilarious. We’re still in touch. Mrs Penman – extremely passionate about her subject, which is very inspiring when you’re an impressionable teen.
