    Admissions

    As a state-funded Free School Polam Hall adheres to a strict Admissions Policy formally agreed with the Department for Education.

    The School is a non-selective Free School open to boys and girls from age 4-19. There are no entrance exams to sit, though students joining the Sixth Form in Year 12 to study A Levels require five GCSEs grades A*/C including Maths and English in line with other sixth form colleges in the region.

    The main points of entry are reception for the Junior School; Year 7 for the Senior School, and Year 12 for the Sixth Form. Up to Year 11, applications for places must be made through the child’s Local Education Authority. Applicants may only make one application – for a day place or a boarding place, not for both.

    COMMON APPLICATION FORM FOR DARLINGTON

    Flexible boarding

    We offer boarding from Year 7 upwards including flexible midweek boarding for those who prefer to go home at weekends. Sixth Formers enjoy weekly boarding at a special discounted rate of £2,000 a term. We also offer a Sixth Form Rural Boarding Bursary for one Year 12 student living more than 10 miles from Darlington entitling them to weekly boarding for just £1,000 a term. More details.

    Consultation on Admission Arrangements for 2018/19

    Polam Hall School is proposing one substantive change to its admissions arrangements for 2018/19. This change will give siblings a higher priority under the oversubscription criteria for day pupils.
